Li’l Abner Puts the Spotlight on Music Department

From March 14th-16th, high school chorus members, with some “special guests” from the cast and production crew, presented their production of legendary musical Li’l Abner. The musical, based on a comic strip that ran from 1934-1977, was adapted into the current movie version in 1956. Northern Bedford’s cast used scripts from the original comic strips, while incorporating the scores from the 1956 film version. Chorus

The Senior High Chorus has been active already this year and plans to be busy with performances, rehearsals, and engagements. Ms. Hull is excited for this year and the musical spirit is found in all students. The TriTones are actively preparing for shows, having completed a week of “boot camp” on August 3rd. They will be accepting performance engagements starting in October. Students involved in District Jazz, District Chorus, and Senior High County Chorus are also preparing for these events. Music in the Parks a Success

The Northern Bedford County High School concert band, chorus, and TriTones participated in the Music in the Parks competition at Hershey Park. These three groups performed select pieces in front of adjudicators who recorded their comments on the pieces presented to them. The concert band played “Friday Harbor” as a warm-up piece and played “Creed” and “Bonds of Unity” for their pieces to be judged.  The band did not go for placements, only for constructive criticism on what they’re doing correctly and incorrectly. This year, NBC chorus members have been involved in many different performances, showcases, and competitions to show off their vast musical talents. Students had the opportunity to attend county chorus and district chorus, participate in the TriTones and Men’s Ensemble, as well as perform in concerts and community events.
