With strong demeanor, impeccable charm, and dashing good looks, Marco Rubio has been sweeping the nation with more than just his stance on issues. This presidential candidate, at the age of 44, is the son of two Cuban immigrants. He attended the University of Florida and received his bachelor’s degree before heading to the University of Miami for his degree in law. The republican won his election to join the West Miami City Commission in 1998 before becoming a member of the Florida House of Representatives in 1999. In 2003, Rubio became the majority leader in the House and three years later was elected as Speaker of the House. When he was no longer Speaker of the House, he became a representative in the United States Senate in 2009. While representing the state of Florida, Rubio created a list, “100 Innovative Ideas for Florida’s Future,” in which more than half became laws.
April 2015, the Floridian announced that he was running for president in the upcoming election. Marco Rubio gave a speech in the city of Miami disclosing what he believed the reason as to why he was going to run for president and why he would be a good fit. “We’ve reached a moment now, not just in my career, but the history of our country, where I believe that it needs a Republican Party that is new and vibrant, that understands the future, has an agenda for that future,” Rubio said. “And I feel uniquely qualified to offer that.” Recently, Rubio took home a win from the 9th GOP debate held on February 13.
Rubio has strong morals and values that push for the equality of all persons and the success of our economy. His stance on countless issues has gained the support of citizens all over America. If Rubio becomes president, he has plans to change a lot of the way things are run in our government. He wants to promote strong values and strong families. He wants to keep the government out of agriculture, end the punitive death tax, oppose energy taxes, and support the opening of new markets. Rubio wants to protect the sacred rights of gun owners and support the innovation and creating of jobs from small business owners. He believes our veterans need to be better cared for and our economy needs to give workers more opportunities. He wants to end Common Core Education, which forms a national school board, and leave education decisions to the local and state levels of government. Rubio is determined to cut spending being done in Washington D.C. in an attempt to get us out of our ever-growing debt.
Overall, Marco Rubio wants to cut down costs on just about everything he can, including higher education facilities, internet, and healthcare. He strongly opposes increasing taxes and thinks that specific things should be given to the states to determine. Marco Rubio may not follow the ideals of everyone, but out of all candidates, he is America’s best bet.
