Lady Panthers Finish Regular Season with 8-13

The last official week for the Northern Bedford Girls’ Basketball team started at Southern Fulton with a tough loss and final score of 67-37 on Monday, February 10th. Sydney Snyder had 13 points and Emma Eckenroad and Kathrine Fink both had 8 points for the Lady Panthers. Coach Todd Eckenroad stated, “We need to figure out a way to put four quarters together. We were out scored in the second quarter by 22 and we never had a chance to get back in the game after that.  The girls didn’t quit, but we dug too big of a whole to climb out of.” The next game was held at Everett, on Thursday, February 13th. The Lady Panthers suffered another loss, with a score of 57-46.  Hannah Drenning led NBC with 16 points, 8 rebounds, and 4 steals and Emma Eckenroad had 9 points. “As a team, we need to learn to run our offenses more effectively and be patient on the execution of the offense. We have to set better screens and our guards need to do a better job of playing defense and not allowing penetration. Rebounding continues to be a struggle for us as a team. We are giving up to many offensive rebounds which allows teams to have multiple shots on every possession.” The last regular season game for the Lady Panthers was held at McConnellsburg, on Saturday, February 15th. NBC lost by only 10 points, with a final score of 58-48. Sydney Snyder led with 23 points, Hannah Drenning had 12 points, and Jostin Ebersole had 6 rebounds and 5 steals for NBC. “We played extremely sluggish in the first half and had to come from behind the majority of the game.  We came back from a 14 point deficit to come within 2, but we could not ever gain the lead. We got out hustled today. We need to come back next week and get ready for the first round of playoffs.” The Lady Panthers ended their regular season with a record of 8 wins and 13 losses. They will continue into playoffs. Their first playoff game will be held at Southern Fulton, on Wednesday, February 19th. Good luck, Lady Panthers!
