Lady Panthers, Down But Not Out

The Lady Panthers started off their first game of the week on Tuesday, January 28th at Fannett-Metal. They suffered a loss of 62-55. Sydney Snyder led the Northern Bedford with 19 points and 3 assists and Hannah Drenning had 15 points and 7 rebounds. Coach Todd Eckenroad stated “We missed too many opportunities early in the game and did not shoot the ball well tonight.  We need to do a better job penetrating the zone defenses and working the ball inside.  Our defense definitely needs to step it up. We have a lot of games in the next two weeks, so we need to bounce back from this loss.” Their next game was at home against the Everett Warriors on Thursday, January 30th. The Lady Panthers suffered another close loss against the Lady Warriors, with a final score of 53-43. For Everett, Kadie Morral led with 21 points and 12 rebounds and Logan Brallier had 15 points. For Northern Bedford, Hannah Drenning had 18 points and 4 rebounds and Sydney Snyder had 12 points. Coach Eckenroad said “we had a lot of mental errors tonight, but we battled back and made a game of it.” The next day, Friday, January 31st, the Lady Panthers traveled to Chestnut Ridge. Northern Bedford won against the Lady Lions with a final score of 67-54. Mackenzie Feather had 21 points and Katie Weaver had 12 points, for Chestnut Ridge. It was a big night for the Lady Panthers three players with double digits in scoring. Hannah Drenning led NBC with 33 points. Also for Northern Bedford, Sydney Snyder had 18 points and Emma Eckenroad had 12 points.  Coach Todd Eckenroad stated “This was a really good win for us.  I think this win will help with the girl’s confidence with the remaining seven games we still have to play.  Drenning really stepped up tonight and had a tremendous game offensively. It was great to see the kids bounce back from a tough game against Everett the night before.” The Lady Panthers will host Forbes Road on Tuesday, February 4th, will travel to Bellwood on Thursday, February 6th, and will also travel to Southern Huntingdon on Friday, February 7th.
