Every year, a tradition at Northern Bedford is to hold a week prior to homecoming to show school spirit. This year was no exception; NBC continued their tradition of Homecoming Spirit Week. NBC Volleyball Team Loses Again

The Northern Bedford Volleyball team continues to have a difficult time winning. The Lady Panthers started off the week at Chestnut Ridge on Tuesday, September the 24th. The NBC girls had started off the first match with a win, with a score of 25-23. The second match ended in the Lady Lions favor, again with the score of 25-23. The Northern Bedford Varsity Boys soccer team is having a good season with six wins and four losses. On September 23rd, at Bedford, the Panthers played against the Bedford Bisons.  Bedford beat Northern with a score of 7-2. Coltin Ebersole and Collin Sherlock both scored once during the game. The next game was home against the Chestnut Ridge Lions on September 24th. Chestnut Ridge also beat Northern with a score of 2-0. NBC Girls Soccer Face Loss

The Northern Bedford girls soccer team took a hard loss again on Thursday, September 26 during an away game against McConnellsburg. The score ended up being a disappointing  4-1. During the first half of the game, the team played very well. The defense was tough in the first half of this game with hardly anyone getting past them.  McConnellsburg scored about 20 minutes into the game.  Lauren Morris scored for Northern about five minutes before the first half ended.  It was during the second half that the girls really struggled. The Panther football team remained undefeated at 5-0 after a 56-7 drubbing of Southern Huntingdon Friday night on Homecoming at Panther Community Stadium. Blake Over and Kyler Diehl again led the team statistically. Over threw for 220 yards and three touchdowns, picked off a pass, and rushed for 110 yards and another score on the ground, while Diehl hauled in three touchdowns for 128 yards. On Sunday, September 22, the county’s oldest resident, Clair Mock passed away at the ripe age of 108 in Colonial Courtyard. Imagine what you could experience when living over a century, Mock had probably heard of the Titanic sinking in 1912, as he was a young child.  Mock was born on July 25, 1905.  In his lifetime, his professions included an automobile and a large equipment mechanic, and he was also an employee of New Enterprise Stone and Lime, retiring from there after 20 years of service. Tropical Storm Manuel had continuously drenched Mexico’s southwestern Pacific shoulder with heavy rains. On Mexico’s opposite coast, there was a downpour from Hurricane Ingrid which has now turned into a tropical storm. This had caused twenty-one deaths. State officials said people had died in landslides, drowning’s in a swollen river, and a truck crash on a rain-slickened mountain highway. Authorities in the Gulf States of Tamaulipas and Veracruz evacuated more than seven thousand people from low-lying areas as the hurricane closed in. This rain has caused some rivers to overflow…

Pakistan suffers from an earthquake that had struck Tuesday afternoon. This earthquake’s magnitude was 7.7. It was felt across the country. It is the worst earthquake in Pakistan since 2005. The tremors felled hundreds of mud-walled houses in six remote districts in southwestern Baluchistan. It had killed hundreds and caused injuries to at least 446 people. Hundreds of Pakistani soldiers are airlifted to help in the rescue effort. Officials estimate put the death toll at 271.The death toll had started at about 80.
