The football team heads into the 2012 season with 32 players and 5 coaches, including head coach, Jeff Batzel. When the students of Northern Bedford think of Homecoming week, the two main things they think of are the dance and the football game.  Homecoming week also means Spirit Week.   Spirit Week is a week of celebration with the Homecoming parade and pep rally.  Spirit Week also means a different way to dress for each day of the week. Tanner Russell excels on and off the soccer field

Tanner Luke Russell can be seen tearing it up on the soccer field. Tanner is son of Darwin and Julie Russell, who reside in Loysburg. Tanner has been playing soccer since preschool. Tanner posted a strong 2012-13 season for the Black Panthers. Tanner tallied 24 goals and 15 assists. Tanner described his position and role on the team as “midfielder and team captain, be a leader.” His advice to underclassmen is “work hard and it will pay off in the end”. Senior Athletes!

This season the fall athletes all had wonderful seasons. Through the ups and the downs the seniors were big leaders for their teams. The seniors of the girls’ soccer team include Jillian Bottenfield, Miranda Brallier, Gabrielle Clark, Bethany Crontrath, Morgan Eshelman, and Alyssa Smith. On Friday nights you can see NBC senior Seth Clapper playing in the marching band. Seth is the son of Eric and Maggie Clapper of Hopewell. He plays the Sousaphone in the marching band and is one of two people who play the Sousaphone in the Black Panther Marching Band. SADD or Students against Destructive Decisions helps to educate school kids and the community on the dangers and misuse of drugs, alcohol, and tobacco. SADD does many things in the fall. The largest of SADD’s activities in the fall is Red Ribbon Week. It is a week-long initiative to promote drug free schools. The campaign is a national effort. Student Council

Student Council has been very busy this fall with blood drives, food bank trips, dances, and raising money. The Student Council started off right away by being thoughtful and raising money for Leevi Steele and his family. They collected money for him at the Claysburg vs. Northern Bedford game on September 21, and ended up receiving a generous amount.
