Madison Over and Sydney Lingenfelter proved to be only “half crazy” by running the sold out, 7th annual Hershey Half Marathon at Hershey Park on October 16 at 7:30 a.m to benefit Children’s Miracle Network of Penn State Hershey Hospital. Over 5,000 brave runners lined up at the starting line, around 7 a.m, to take part in running a 13.1-mile course that winds through Hersheypark, goes into the town of Hershey, and then ends on Hersheypark stadium. Girls Volleyball Team Starts With A Loss

The Northern Bedford girls volleyball team played hard at their first game on Thursday, September 6th at Williamsburg High School, but came out short losing 3 of the 4 games.   The starters of the game were senior Morgan Kichman (setter), senior Emma Eckenrode (middle),  junior Maddie Cherry (middle), senior Jessika Branter (outside), junior Kaylee Bowsers (outside), and  sophomore Cameron Pressel (right side). Girls Soccer Takes a Win

  Northern Bedford’s girls varsity soccer team took their first win against Johnstown Christian with a final score of 15-0 on Tuesday, September 6th. Peyton Leidy and Jostin Ebersole, juniors Jordan Helsely and Sadie McConnell, sophomore Madison Cottle, and freshman Lacey Fleck, all scored a goal.   Ever since school ended in June, the team has been working hard each day to get in shape for the season.

On October 13th, the Junior High girls took down Fannett Metal, beating them in both games to maintain their undefeated season. Panthers Play Hard Against the Lions

On Saturday October 17th, the Black Panthers Boys’ soccer team lost 3-1 to league rival Chestnut Ridge during a freezing home game.  During the opening minutes of the game, the Lions scored an easy goal against a Panther defense that was not ready.  The first goal seemed to wake the Panthers, up and the team quickly started to play better. Northern Bedford Boys’ soccer lost 2-0 against HOPE for Hyndman Charter School on Thursday evening.  Hyndman is a team that will easily make it into the District 5 playoffs.  The panthers had to play hard to compete with such a good team and keep a close score.  The boys showed an intensity and aggression on both offense and defense that has been missing for most of the season. On Monday, October 5 girls varsity volleyball took on the Bellwood Devils. The panthers started out a little slow losing the first game 25-11. They went into the second game with a strong will and only lost by 2 with the final score being 26-24. They couldn’t keep that up into the third game though, losing it 25-20. Varsity girls volleyball has suffered 3 terrible defeats in a row. The girls lost their game with Tussey on September 10th. after losing the first 2 matches, pulling together and winning the third, and then falling back down and lost the fourth. Northern Bedford boys’ soccer suffered a bitter 6-1 defeat at the hands of the McConnellsburg Spartans on Thursday, making the team’s record 3-5.  In the first 10 minutes of the game the panthers suffered a devastating injury.  Starting right midfielder Dillion Douglas went down hard after jumping in the air.  He dislocated his right patella and had to be taken to Altoona Hospital in an ambulance.  With the loss of such an important player things were looking bad for the panthers from the start.
